Is Golf Fitness Just for the Pros?

Recently, I have had several students approach me and ask about TPI (Titleist Performance Institute). What is it? Why should I sign up? Is it a huge commitment? Do I have to be in good shape? Do I have to be a good golfer? These are some of the questions I have gotten.

Here are some answers...

TPI helps both the student and the instructor. What I mean by that is even the best players in the world have certain mobility, stability, strength, flexibility and balance limitations.

Why this is important to me? If I have a student come to me, for example, with limited internal hip rotation and limited torso rotation, I would formulate a "game plan" for that student that would be different from someone who didn't have those limitations. That student may have to work on a shorter swing and or less turn or rotation in their golf swing.

Often, people don't realize they have certain limitations, they think of things in terms of injuries.

So, once I have performed a physical assessment, next I will shoot some video, formulate a game plan for their improvement and then the student will be sent an 18 session individualized workout plan.

After the student has completed the sesssions, we then can re-test and then hopefully see that they have gained in the areas of balance, stability, flexibility, mobility and strength.

So, any golfer of any ability can benefit greatly from going through a TPI Physical Assessment. It isn't a crazy commitment, the workouts mostly consist of stretches and excercises anyone can do.
